....always your first choice should be Garage Glamour. ;-)

And if you need a book, Lighting for Glamour - Steve Bavister. It's a keeper.

Here's a quick list of books I like. These are heavy on glamour. If you want fashion type shots, there are some others I would suggest.

Lighting for Glamour Photography by Duncan Evans and David Kimber (revised ed), $24.94, paperback

Succesful Glamour Photography by Duncan Evans and John Kelly (revised ed), $24.95, paperback

Classic Glamour Photography by Duncan Evens and Ian Banks (revised ed), $29.95, paperback

The Complete Guide to Beauty and Glamour Photography by Jon Gray, $24.99, paperback

How to Photograph Women Beautifully by J. Barry O'Rourke and Michael Keller, $24.95, Paperback

Professional Model Portfolios by Billy Pegram, $29.95, paperback

Photographing the Nude by Mike Crawley, $29.99, paperback

Lighting, Posing, and Retouching for Digital Portraits by Jeff Smith, $34.95, paperback

Glamour Photography Workshop by Martin Sigrist and Matthias Stolt, 24.99, paperback

These are all glossy paper, quality books with lots of images.

The following hardback books may be a bit harder to find, they are out of publication and are only available from used bookstores.

Secrets of Photographing Women by Peter Gowland. Mr Gowland has 3 hardback books out and many paperbacks ranging from posing guides to lighting equipment promotional pieces. Any of his books are worth the price, he's a master of the glamour genre...

Fashion Photography by Robert Farber. Mr. Farber has several other books out, but the two fashion books are the standouts in my opinion.

You can generally find the paperbacks above at a discounted price on Amazon.com or other on-line mass sellers. Again, the hardbacks may take some digging on the internet used bookstores, but are generally available at not too unreasonable prices.

Some photographer's books have gone astronomical in price due to changes in laws, political and moral climates, etc.

As far as videos, I'd recommend the Ken Marcus videos, Arny Freytag's Through the Lens video, and John Kelly's video. But these are going to be really difficult to find. Occasionally, one will show up on eBay, but not often.

Web pages... Well, Google can lead you to all sorts of photographer's pages.

One of my personal favorite sites is the Neiman Marcus womens fashion pages. Lots of really well done catalog shots which beginning models can easily emulate.

Good luck!

Well, any of those books I listed are pretty good. It depends on your particular area of interest, what you are looking for in terms of information, and what style images you like. The two books you listed are very good.

The How to Photograph Women Beautifully book is not as swimsuit/lingerie/glamour oriented as some of the other books.

If you go to Amazon.com and do a search for the books, they usually have a brief description, and often other buyers of the book have left reviews.

Another thing you might try is to do a Google search on the authors. Most photographers have a web presence these days, so you might find that they have images on their sites typical of what you might see in their books.

I know it's tough when you can't walk into a bookstore and actually have the book in your hands to look at. I sometimes buy books from overseas. It's always a little anxiety waiting to see exactly what you have bought, especially when the price is high.

Good luck!
