Since it was brought up, what is technique, what is technology--no, don't define it, give me examples to add to this list: (yeah, more book material and ideas, hey focus groups are fun (grin)))

Technique:
Rembrandt, Loop, Split and Paramount Lighting

Technology:
Radio Remote controlled Digital Ready Flash Systems with LED readouts

Technique:
Overpowering the sun with flash.

Technology:
Graduated Filters

Technique:
Controlling contrast in an image with light modifiers.

Technology:
Starfish, Octabank, Octadome, softboxes, umbrellas, grids, etc.

Ok, your turn and yes, in this photo of my two daughters and son in front of the house you see old technology, the Blue Goose, but leverage/fulcrum/wheel technique...thanks, rg sends!

Got to hand it to you RG..... this one I like. If the 2 in the wagon didn't look so posed, this could be a nice shot to send to Hallmark or similar.

Trust me when I say it, they were not posed, you couldn't even keep them in the wagon...for the record, you will see this image in print sooner than you think, unless the editor changed their mind in the past six hours...never know, editors are funny about choices sometimes after a good night's rest, wishing you the best, rg sends!

Hey Rolando,

Here is the wagon you need for the kids to play with. Found it at an autoshow.

Yeah, If you'd actually managed to get kids that age to pose I'd like you to teach me that technique!

Photoshop - Technology

Knowing how to use it - Technique

Technique :
Overexposing the face 1/2 stop to flatten out the skin and reduce the appearance of blemishes on the skin

Technology :
Diffuse Glow or Gaussian Blur to clean up the skin, or worse when over done, to make a model look like a manequin

Way over done photoshop blurring can be seen on http://www.phatfarm.com flash intro. As the models quickly appear you will see way too smooth softness on the skin showing poor post processing - in my opinion.

I think making-offs are always useful.

There are small kids out there who would be perfectly content to just sit how they were placed in the wagon and take everything in for a brief period of time. With the expression on the oldest ones face, which is priceless, and the other two moving about in the wagon would have lended a candid element to the shot and strengthen it (think Norman Rockwell). That's all I'm saying.
