...but I think I'll keep her

These are the FIRST images shot at my new home. I can tell already there will be some GREAT opportunities with the incredible light source and the fact the home faces NNE...

This image was taken in the inside gallery area...a LITTLE hot on the nose, but man there is potential here...

This image was taken poolside...I included the hibiscus for added color...

If any 20D shooters view this, I am having trouble with the B&W mode on the camera. When I change the paramater to B&W and capture an image, it displays on the LCD as normal; however, when I download the images from the card, there are NO B&W images on the card. I have read the book, and there appears to be no "special" instructions for capturing B&W images...Am I doing something wrong?? Is there something else I need to set to capture B&W images?? Any help would be appreciated....

Maybe it's a good thing you lost the old camera. It's definitely a good thing you have such a supportive wife, who's also beautiful and a good model for you.

Actually, the title was for her benefit. I just found out my wife is...well...she's a GG LURKER!!!!...Yep, she reads the boards every day to see what is going on so I figure I'll throw a barb or two her way.

Hey after 21 years together, ya gotta do SOMETHING to keep it it interesting...

Congrats on the new house, new camera and very nice images.

I'm guessing you are shooting in RAW and not JPEG. With RAW the in camera parameters are dropped from the RAW file...in other words you get a RAW image just like it was captured by the sensor (always color); so, it drops the B&W processing done by the camera. To get a B&W you need to be shooting JPEG.

BTW the B&W from the 20D are ok but I find that converting the images in Photoshop gives a better look.

it isn't so much "I'll keep her" as will she keep you. I think I've said before the secret of a long marriage is not love, nor money, nor the ability to communicate. It is sheer, unmitigated tenacity.

If you are shooting in the Raw Mode and using the B&W settings then you will need to convert the file using the program that came with the camera. The program that came with the camera sees the settings of the camera. If you load the raw file in the photoshop raw converter or any other converter then you will see the full color file as the photoshop raw converter does not see the camera settings. As others have said, it is better to convert the file to B&W in Photoshop.

That was it Bill...I was actually changing to jpeg when your reply came in...Thanks.

I grabbed the wife (gently) and pulled her to the window just 5 minutes ago and grabbed this one. Now, try and diregard the hair over the right eye, but this is in B&W mode and NOT converted in PS...whats your thoughts??
