Ok ! back on our second shoot, rain, lousy light, rain , lousy clouds.
She likes this pose, but I blew it by not getting her completely in the frame.
I want to reshoot it on a better day.
This is a low resoluton version. What can be done to save this shot?
I will talk her into a retake of this day.

A couple of things to nit pick about…. There is a lot of stuff in the background (wires) that are very distracting to me. she is missing one hand and one arm. The pole is not straight… and I hope you have a safety net…lol looks like a long drop if she looses her balance… I don’t know if my insurance would cover a model falling off of a building like that…

The rest you mentioned… lighting, cropping (fill the frame with her).

Re-shoot!

Nothing is working for you here. Power poles and wires are the last thing you want for your background! I'll leave it there and not comment on the other problems.

There is a lot wrong with this shot, Bob, so much, I don't really know where to start. The location is less than ideal, the on camera flash is harsh, the white balance is off, the pose and crop are bad.

Find a different location, something not so busy. Stop using the flash and buy a reflector or learn to use natural reflectors. Rainy/overcast days are fine if the light is there. Stay out of full sunlight until you learn how to use it to your advantage. Shoot in the shade and learn how to bounce light onto the model and learn how to see the light that is falling on the model.

The model below is standing in a shaded area of my studio with light reflecting off the hardwood floor onto her.

She for the life of me wants the picture.
I dumped it from my folder. I was going to ps the stuff out of the background, foots cut off, sometimes it shows up in the frame on the camera but cut off when I download. Yes the light was the pits that day, flash on the side stead on top...Do ya think if I just tight crop her bust trash the rest?
obtw this is a raw shot nothing done to it at all. There are way better picts in this set, but this one is BAD!
She wants it.

Do a retake with much less background distraction and don't let her hyper-extend her elbows like that. If she has a joint, it should be bent naturally and not reversed like her left arm is. After the reshoot, show her this one side-by-side with one done much better and THEN let her decide. You may also want to point out to her the problems with her pose and all the distractions.

She looks like she is a lot of fun and you could make some great images with her. Don't let her distract from that beauty with a bad image. Just my .02 Euros.

Good day!

Mike

if you can plumb & level this shot, i think it would be more effective and make better use of the interesting perspective. also, while i'm being a persnickery nit, maybe you might try getting rid of the telephone lines and making it b&w. just a thought.
