Wow... I'm sorry to hear that man. Altough I'm glad that you said you are insured. Hopefully you'll get your replacement asap. By the way.. care to tell me about the insurance? I will like I wanna insure my equipments now. Because this can happen to anybody anywhere.

My thoughts on the guns is that they either were scared off by the alarm or someone else...OR they didn't want to try and pawn guns...it's more difficult to do that (I hear) since 911

My wife is cool with my photography as far as my working with gorgeous, nude models is concerned. But her one big complaint when we travel is that whenever we stop at a restaurant or store I insist an taking all my gear with me into the place. I refuse to leave thousands of dollars of bodies and lenses in the car. You've just given me some ammunition to use on that topic. Thanks!

Also, let me add that I'm very sorry about your loss. It's the nightmare we all dread. Maybe there will be a silver lining: About 25 years ago someone broke into my house and stole my entire camera system, which at that time was all-Pentax. Since I was starting from scratch I could select a new brand, so I went with Nikon and built up a Nikon system, which today includes 4 Nikon bodies and about a dozen lenses. I was much happier with the Nikon gear than the Pentax gear, so it was a blessing in disguise for me.

Just standard homeowners coverage. Luckily I kept ALL of my receipts so it will be easy to VERIFY I actually owned each item I will be claiming. I recently added a rider on another policy to cover the equipment in case it were to be stolen while being used "professionally". Luckily for me, I was on a few days R&R and homeowners covered it. Had I been on a shoot where I was compensated, I would be SOL...this rider I just put in place DOES cover stolen equipment WHILE being used commercially...

Sorry to hear that happened. I would joke and say that I have some almost new camera equipment that I picked up in Texas that I'd be willing to sell you--but I feel so bad for you I can't even be sarcastic about it.

Sorry for your loss. But you aren't the dumbass in this little scenario, as naive as that sounds. You merely failed remember to account for human nature. Actually, sad that we have to that, so regularly.

As for "Sucks to be me...", I've seen your photography and your wife's pictures. (And a child, as I recall?) It certainly DOESN'T suck to be you. And don't forget it, sir.
