I worked with Sauna (196828 on some other model place) this past Saturday. She is really great to work with.

If you can tell me some ways to improve this image I would really appreciate the advice.

perhaps a little too much photoshop..my standard suggestion.

The model is cute, but you need to get her engaged more. The car pose is better, but in the water, she doesnt look like she is having a GREAT time.

The models eyes, smile, body language...all together, make a priceless glamour image as opposed to just a pic of a pretty girl.

Once again, not bad, but get her in the mood.

BTW, the difference between a model and a a pretty girl is pretty big.

A pretty girl you might want to hang out with or take to bed, but a model is one that everyone that looks at the picture thinks she wants to go bed with THEM. That special quality is very hard to find, but when you got a model that can project that feeling..its amazing.

One of the most beautiful models, and amazing ladies, that I know, Playboy Playmate Lindsey Vuolo, Miss November 2001. Her website is www.lindseyvuolo.net

Many thanks for the comments Glen,

Do you have any pointer for getting a model in the mood?

I should probably add that this was the first glamour type shoot she had ever done and had only shot 3 times before so she is a beginner.

But getting appropriate facial expressions is definitely something I have had major difficulty with. If you have any suggestions on how to help models get to the point that they feel comfortable and can produce those facial expressions I would really, REALLY love to hear them.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond,
Daryl

I know what's missing in these images....ME! Seriously though, the car shot is my fave. The other one has her looking a bit pensive but you did clarify that she's relatively new to all of this as well. In my opinion, it's very nice work for the both of you seeing how it's very new to both.

Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

Mike

I would point out a couple of minor issues... In the first picture my eyes a drawned to be brightest part (the bridge in the background) and as someone pointed before she seems a bit 'hesitant'... I love the pose and her expression on the second pic.. only issue is a little too much PS on the skin maybe.

Please take these observations for what they are worth = what you paid for them = nothing.. ;o)

Model: Tina

Thanks,

Bryan

Just don't crop the hand next time. A little less tension on her right arm would have been good.

Bryan,

Thanks for the comments. They are definitely valid points.

Don't worry about bruising my ego. I am here to learn. If I already knew everything, like a teenager, I might get upset by a critique. I am hoping to improve and grow and that takes truth even on those ocasions when it is difficult.

Thank you very much for the comments.

Come to my upcoming workshop...."Making models do the poses that make everyone think they are hot" and I'll fill you in. Its a 2 day seminar, only costs you $ 499.00 and fills you in on all of the little tricks I have learned. Coming soon to a city near you.

Seriously, perhaps the best way is to sit down with the model BEFORE a shoot and explain what you are trying to accomplish and show her examples in print of the looks and attitude you need to make the shoot work.

If she can't do these over coffee the day before the shoot, then its NOT going to happen the day of the shoot.

The simple fact is that its better to find out the model can't handle it BEFORE the shoot then at the time of the shoot. I give models magazines and website links and tell them to take a look at them, and them to get naked or in lingerie in front of a mirror and practice the poses at home. If they can't, or won't, do it in the privacy of their own home, they won't do it on camera.

Then its up to you to simply say, "Thanks, but I don't think this is going to work out and we won't be able to shoot." Don't spend time trying to make glamour images with a model thats not into it, or capable of carrying it out. Doesn't mean she is not a sweet person..it just means she didn't connect with you or herself and she can't pull it off. Next.....

If modeling were so easy, every pretty girl would be a Playmate.

But here is a real live Playmate that doesnt need any help with posing, the fabulous Lani Todd, Miss December 2002.
