Here is a shot that uses a setup that imitates the 40's style lighting of Hurrell for shooting the glamour style photos of that era. In this version of **** Tracy, Ms Tracy prepares to blow the bad guy away.

But in the books on this type of style, it talks about using props appropriate to the era and cigarettes are prominently mentioned.

I'm using the "Hollywood Portraits - Classic Shots and How to take them" by Roger Hicks and Christopher Nisperos. The lighting setup I used was found on page 52. I was using a flash head with a grid on it to focus the beam. I was not using a 8x10 camera.

When Ms **** Tracey is grilling you, you better talk, or else:

Same lighting as the first, but with the model facing more into the key. Here is a shot of the basic lighting. For the above shot, the fill light was higher and more on her face than shown in lighting shot:

Also note the panel in front of the key. It is black on the side facing the model. It is used to flag part of the key to control the light spread.

Cheers,
rfs

Well usually I would leave the ring off, but since its part of the **** Tracy persona, I felt that I should keep the ring.
