I shot this today to demonstrate an effective use of shadows.

Take a minute to breath in this image. Notice how the afternoon window light falls off across her nose and comes back to highlight her cheek. Notice how this image maintains deep shadow detail and yet blows nothing out in the highlights. See how the skin color doesn't fade to green in the shadows, indicating loss of detail.

Lesson #1 is free. Consider yourself schooled.

As with any other image I share here on GG, constructive feedback is always appreciated.

I think you might mean breathe in the image. I did. Are you taking yourself a bit too seriously?

Don, there's only one thing about this image that bothers me, well two. I really wish her left arm wasn't so blown out. Also, her right hand looks like it's growing out of her butt. A little bend in the elbow to show more of the forearm would've been better here in my opinion. Otherwise, it's a nice image and that set has lots of potential.

Damn typos! I tried to go back and fix it, but I was too late. Yeah, you're right, I did mean breathe.

I can understand that you would think I am taking myself too seriously. I hate that I am giving that impression. I had to risk that in this post to demonstrate something. Please understand that I'm not really like that. The true intended audience for this post is very small.

Good use of shadows Jimmy. Maybe you should give lesson #2?

Don,

Here's the reason you'll succeed. You take constructive criticism and learn from it. I wish you all the best my friend.
