I was talking with one of may major clients today about an image he used to promote his printing business.

The images was submitted to Canadian trade publications... no problem. Same image submitted to American trade publications, rejected twice because of a nipple being visible under her top.

Being from Canada I am used to seeing nipples...it gets chilly and body parts get perky... do Americans not have nipples, or are they just not shown.

Offensive image

Dude, this is America. Thanks to the ACLU, everything is offensive! Even that statement just offended someone. The reason we can't ever solve anything here in America is that everyone gets offended by the language and by the time you run it throu a PC filter, all you have left is a series of dots and dashed that were once punctuation.

That wasn't completely fair of me. It should have read "thanks to the ACLU, political parties, religion, and attourneys...."

FWIW, I recall Teri Hatcher appearing on an evening talk show lately, and revealling that her scenes in "Desperate Housewives" were frequently manipulated to hide the fact that her nipples were erect the fabric of her tops. Obviously, although the show is not exactly geared towards family viewing, the producers felt that it would be too risque to have the nipples apparent.

the aclu is for free speech, they actually help photographers. america is a conservative country on the outside, but meanwhile everyone is swinging from the trees on the inside. even the president was a druggie, turned born again. so it is okay for him to go wild, but now noone else can? he cant even control his own daughters. thing is, his daughters are smart, beautiful women, they have every right to do dumb things, we all do.

surprised the client didnt ask permission to soften the offending nipple rather than deny the picture. rather than go nuts, just submit an equally impressive image. also, rather than complain to the us company, consult with the canadian branch that did accept the image.

This may start a flame, so hear goes...

For a country that produces the most porn in the world, there's a lot of hypocrasy going around here. That's all.

The client was the company that commissioned the image to be used as a promo piece. The American trade magazines refused to run the image ( as a paid ad) as is... they required the change. The image was changed...the ad ran.
