...where nipples are taboo (they even hide Cosmo covers at counters these days.) but copies of the dvd "American Psycho 2" are being sold at a local supermarket right up at the front counter.

American business is only conducive to the overall mood of its buyers...and that mood is very conservative at the moment, and will be for some time.

Ask Janet Jackson on how we acknowledge the nipple (or covering thereof.). Then switch the channel over to CSI and watch someone get blown away.

Just because you don't find anything wrong with the offending image, nor it's scantly clad lady,..someone else might.. Some advertising agencies have issues with stuff like that, that other one's don't.. Some will allow what you have there at certain venues, while they may refuse to allow it at others..

You didn't offend me at all but then again,... I'm probably not in the target market for the product, or service that this was trying to hit..

Just accept it, and or alter the image so that you can make money with it...or be an anal starving artist and refuse to make any changes to the content of your work..

Everything is offensive to someone. In the US, if it's even remotely sexual (erect nipples qualify), publishers won't allow it, for fear of some vocal minority ... unless titillation (no pun) is their objective. The US is a nation founded on hypocrisy. The earliest Europeans settled here to escape religious persecution. Then when the next wave of settlers got here, the first ones persecuted them for worshiping differently. Maybe it's the water.

Yet if you watch episodes of FRIENDS, Jennifer Aniston's nipples are almost always very erect and very noticeable through her top. I always wondered how it was that nobody ever complained about it since they were so apparent. Considering the way people reacted over a half a second glimpse of Janet Jackson's breast at the Super Bowl, I am surprised that there wasn't a huge public uproar about every scene Jen and her nipples were in on FRIENDS.

As the nipple episode of SEINFELD said, (I am paraphrasing here) " It’s just a nipple. Everybody's got them!" Jerry lifts up his shirt, exposing his nipples. Kramer lifts his shirt exposing his nipples.
