Actually, no. It just re-inforces the snobbish attitude that some Mac users have needlessly developed to defend their own platform choice. The man asked for help, not for someone's opinion on what computer he should be using. There's a time and place for everything, and this isn't the time for evangelizing.
To their defense, Mac users are not the only ones that do that (i.e. Intel Fanboys, AMDroids, nVidiots, Amigoids, etc.).
People have this annoying habit of developing an emotional attachment to their brand of choice, and then try to evangelize their choice to others to justify it. Maybe it's a form of buyers remorse? I don't know. All I know is that I used to do it myself, and I was also "converted" by a friend of mine too. Back in the golden days of computing, I had a friend who was really big into the Commodore Amiga and he evangelized me into buying one. After playing around with his system for a while, I really did like it though, so I can't say I blame him for "making" me buy one.
Fast forward to today. I've got another friend who's trying to evangelize me into switching to the Mac. I'll say here what I've told him. Yes, the Mac is nice. The OS is phenominal. The hardware stinks and is overpriced. In it's current incarnation the Mac is nothing more than an overglorified and overpriced PC. With their switch to Intel, at least there's a chance that they'll lower their price to compete with the rest of the marketplace. Once the transition is over, I guarantee that you'll see a lot more "switchers", since there's nothing preventing a person from installing WinXP on the system too. Give it another three years after that, and you'll probably see Apple unbundle the OS from their hardware too, which would be the best thing they ever did.
