Good morning All.
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a newbie to photography. Have had my first DSLR for less than a year now. Nikon D60. I love going out and taking photos. Was disappointed the first few times, but I am developing my skills. Spend most of my time at Brazos Bend State Park. Lots of photos and alligators. I really want to expand and learn portrait and glamour. I ordered my first Rolando Gomez book. Can't wait to get it in my hands. :-) I would like to attend some workshops, but I don't know if my skills need to be at a higher level or not. Guess I will find out as I go along.
I do live in Houston, TX. Lived here all my life. Don't know what else to say at this point. I just know I look forward to learning more and feel I will learn more here.
Thank you and have a great day.
James

If you ever make it up to the Dallas area, let me know and I'd be happy to show you a few tips, some tricks and a lot of essential techniques ... and, I'll even supply the model ... just bring me some good coffee and some of that great Houston BBQ.

Welcome! I've shot BBSP a bunch. Moved to portraits and glamour few years back.
There's lots to learn from those here and my shooting has improved much.
The critiques offered here have made a big difference. Little things matter and the guys here are very good and getting you to pay attention to those things.
I really does make a difference!

Marty is a great photographer. I'd like to get him down here for some BBQ as well.

Best,

Well come on down. I would still make the trip to Dallas. I need to get out of town for a few hours. For once June is booked solid for me. Even if you want to come down to H-Town that is good too. :-)

I'm thinking Houston would be a great trip in the mid summer ... the 100 degree weather sucks up here ... and it also sucks down there ... so there's NOTHING to hole me back!. LOL Lemme check out my schedule for mid July and get back to everyone. And yes ... it's ok to tall me you're totally booked in July LOL

You have a "dry" heat up there. Where as down here we have hot and sticky. Humidity 200%. LOL. If you want to wait until cooler months that's ok. We have BBQ year round. I'd still make a trip up there. I was wondering would it benefit me to be a Photographers Assistant? I don't know if that would help me in my learning. Any advice?

Dry heat ... wet heat ... when you sweat like me, all heat is wet heat! LOL If you want to come up to "cooler" Dallas and assist me or shoot with me ... bring it on!
