My son's college is having an end of the year slideshow (Video and Photos) at his dinner banquet. I have been asked to contribute some of my photos and I obviously said I would.

Now, here's the question. I have to give the photos to one of the other parents on a CD to complete the video. What image dimensions and resolution should I supply them to her at? If possible, I would like to supply her photos that will look good on the slide show, but she couldn't just start copying them and sending them out to other parents.

I know I can tell her not to and I could put my copyright on them, but wanted to try to stay away from those if I can.

So really, is there a best size and resolution for a slide show, but not for printing?

Thanks!

Pete

First make sure the images are at 72 dpi. Second realize that what ever size you give them, they can print it at one third size fairly well. So if you give them a 1024x768 size, the size of my monitor, great for slides, they would be able to print a nice copy at 4x5 inches. I did the calculation using the image size function in photoshop.

A 630x420 72 dpi image can be printed well [210 dpi ] at 2x3" size. This size would fill up half a monitor. This would not be a great slide show, but usable I think, and these prints would be pretty small.

I would be tempted to make them the larger size but put a subtle copyright notice on every picture. But that's just me. And I don't know the people or the market.

Try to make a video out of them using the movie maker provided by windows. Surely every one would love this....
