To what temperature do you calibrate your monitor? 5000K, 6500K?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,
Doc

Doc,
The instructions from the lab I use say to begin with these settings;

Color Temperature: 6000K
Gamma: 2.2 for PC users or 1.8 for Mac users
Luminance: 95cd/m2 for CRTs or 115 cd/m2 for LCDs

Hope this helps!

Merry Christmas!

Pete

I've always calibrated at 6500, too, on both on my old LaCie Electron BlueIII and on my new LaCie 320. I was talking to a graphic artist and he asked me what temperature I calibrated at and I told him 6500 and he said "That high?". I also read an article that said that calibration was only used to bring monitors back to the factory default of 5000. On my monitor, a temp of 5000 looks kind of dirty yellow. I'm sticking with 6500 since I'm very pleased with the results.

Thanks,
Doc
