OK Cannon 30D taking some monochrome photos that look good on the camera previewer but when I look at them in PS they are almost completely blak, way too dark. Is it my computer settings?
Thanks

well the lcd preview isn't the most truthfull in my opinon when talking about exposure, specially if you've adjusted it with a higher or lower backlight.

Hi Chuck,

Too little info to tell where your problem is. But, you should start by looking at the histogram to see how you captured the image (good exposure or not). If you don't yet know much about histograms, do a search on G1 and read the posts, especially RFS' posts, and you will begin to narrow down where the problem lies.

By default the LCD brightness is set too high on the 30D. Adjust the brightness to one notch above the lowest setting. That will give you a truer representation of the color and lightness and darkness of your shots.

You can test by shooting a photo of a Gray card at your current settings and exposure and see where the spike in the histogram is located. If it is in the center, then the gray card will look gray in PS (rgb will be 128,128,128 or close). If its not about in the middle, then your exposure is off.

Post a few examples of your dark photos and we can give you further advice.

No photo showed up. Did you intend to post one or a link to one. You can just upload it to your portfolio on G1, and then use the Images link to choose it and place it in the post.
Cheers,
rfs
