I need to get up to speed with editing and retouching skills. I'been using ps for a long time, but made graphics mainly. I currently have cs2. I would like to find one or a few sites that have really good tutorials. It's easy to find a simple tutorial where someone show you how to use a single tool to do some minor thing. But they really don't tell you what the tool is doing or how it works. Also, I also need to know what to retouch and what not to, if you know what I mean. One can use the liquify tool to push up a jaw, or the skin covering it I should say, but that isn't the only thing that time has messed with on a face. I liked R_Fred's idea of the workshop in a thread, but R, I think a picture of Holly doesn't have much to fix. So, I need a curriculum and study guide for retouching. Any input?

Check out the NAPP site http://www.photoshopuser.com/
Also, if you logon to the Adobe site as a registered user, there are lots of tutorials to be found.

Finally, if you hear of a Photoshop Seminar near you, try to attend. The few times I have attended a seminar has helped me understand more about the program.

Google the company "Software Cinema". They not only have CDs to sell that will teach you all sorts of photoshop tricks, but also offer a collection by Dean Collins on lighting. The great thing is that you work at your own pace. I bought the set during the time Phtoshop 7 was the top of the heap and being able to learn visually was a big help in teaching this old dog new tricks. I also have every book put out by Scott Kelby and there is a neat book at Barnes and Noble (and others) titled "Photoshop CS The Art of Photographing Women". It is full of tricks on how to make the imperfect woman perfect in Photoshop. Rick from Arkansas "Arkie"

Scott Kelby's "The Photoshop <PS Version> Book For Digital Photographers" are great and easy to follow. He's also put out "Photoshop Classic Effects". All his books are highly reconmmended.

How about literally thousands of tutorials on Photoshop from some of the best known experts and all for free?! iTunes (must download software) has podcasts from a few minutes to over 30 minutes from all kinds of PS experts and it's all free. Check it out but I recommend selecting a podcaster series you like and subscribing to just that series unless you have unlimited hard drive space.
