Well it looks like the post production forum was removed, so i decided to post here.

In a previous post, I mentioned a change of plans made me "create" a quasi studio in a residential homes living area. The room was just not a very good setting, OR my skill level just isn't at a point to adjust properly. Having said that, has anyone found a shot that they like, yet due to various reasons, lost some highlights and shadows an tried to save the image in PS.

I like this image and I have tried to save it. The first image is my post production trying to salvage some lost highlights on the models right side of her face (image left). I am not real happy with it as my PS skills are somewhat weak. The second image, I played with PS to try and "hide " or "artistically cover" the lost details.

Now this image is not "cover" material,I know that...my question or charge to you is, can an image be saved with lost detail and be presentable.

Now before this thread goes into the "...well you should have captured it correct in the camera" route...let me say...I KNOW that...BUT it didn't happen.

Please feel free to revise...adjust...correct this image...

First Image with me trying to save lost detail....

2nd image where I used PS to try and create a presentable image...

Any help, comments appreciated...

If that your worst shot of this beautiful model, you're in great shape. One of the nice things about shooting in my living room is that I have a lot of opportunity to "fix it in post." AND ... since I don't have a fixed aperature lens, zooming in and out frequently results in under or overexposed images.

I didn't do much to your image -- a little contrast adjustments & some clone brush on her skin. As I zoomed in to touch up her skin, I saw a crop that looked nice, so my last step was to give it a closer 8x10 crop.

Could you post an unedited version so that we can take a whack at it?

Great job Marty...I think I like that crop better...Thanks.

She's a beautiful young lady and I really want to present this image to her. You have been a great help.

I am not much of a PS'r...I try...like most I am sure...to capture the "look" str8 from the camera. Of what little PS I can utilize, I like the diffused glow (used moderatley) and adding the grain...it just didn't work for me on this image (the 2nd one).

Thanks again...

Did you shoot RAW or JPG? If you have a RAW file floating around, you can recover a lot more from that than you can from a JPG.
