I am so fooking frustrated that I'm about to shove my fist through the monitor. I keep trying to batch process and each time no matter what I *&^%$%&** do it stops me and asks for %^*(I&Y^^ JPEG Options. I have more than 2,000 images to batch process and I do not relish sitting in front of the computer clicking the mouse. That defeats the whole batch process.

PLEASE somebody sit in front of your computer, create an action and make note of each step and post them.

Do you hit the red X to close the image? Do you use Save? Do you use close? Do you use save as? If so, what is checked in there? Then run automate/ batch and tell me what is checked there PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Everybody tells me this is so easy but they must be leaving something out. Step by step PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Do I have to save to the same folder? a Different folder? What is checked in the Batch window and what is not checked? PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE

If you already posted the answer to this, well, I can't find it. Please post it again in this thread.

What processes is it asking? If you have started an action and done all that you wish to do and then stopped the action you should not have any problems. If the issue is saving the jpeg file then look in Batch under destination and select save and close from the pull down menu. This will keep you from having to continuously save each file.

Then do I not save and close as part of the action?
It is stopping me and asking about JPEG Option. I have to click OK before it will go on.

Confused Bruce

No, you do not need to save and close the file in the action. The save and close selected in the destination portion of the batch file will take care of it.

Assuming you have the action written correctly (as described by Morgan), the only other time I have seen an action prompt me each time it saves (on Windows) is when:

1. I moved the images from my camera directly to the hardrive.
2. I ran the action without first doing some type of manual correction/save on the file first.

It is almost as if Photoshop notices the image has never been modifed before and needs to know the compression settings or something. I never bothered debugging this since I usually do some type of color correction on the image which results in a save of some type before running a batch resize, style, etc.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I press enter on the first file, then set my stereo remote on top of the enter key. Works great, just remember to remove it after the batch.

I notice the JPG options window on batch processing as well. Last night I ran a batch on 121 shots, and had to click through each one. I opened the files from one folder and saved to a different one. It seems like the first time I open a JPG file transferred off my camera in PS, I get get a JPG options prompt when I save the file. I would love to have a work around for this if anyone has one.

Michael,

Cool! I hadn't thought of the remote trick, but how does Photoshop determine the default compression when saving a JPG? In some cases I have noticed it default to 6 and at other times it seems to default to 10.

Also ... I went back and looked at some of the pictures from my camera that have NOT been modified yet. If I run a batch action on them, Phtoshop pauses the batch and gives me that prompt. I compared the Metadata between the two, and the one that does NOT prompt me has a tag called "Software" that is set to "Photoshop". Wonder if Photoshop looks for that and prompts if not there.

Very low-tech but it also sounds very effective...
