Here is my very amature photoshop attempt. I understand photoshop but I am far from great at it. So here goes nothing

Process:
- Adjusted curves to try and make the photo slightly less yellow
- Cloned out a couple of stray hairs
- Duplicated later and selected the skin only, used add noise/median to soften that layer
- Set that layer to luminosity and reduced to about 40% opacity
- Flattened and did one final minor curves modification.

All in all I think I did good for me, but in retrospect should probably have tried to fix the second shadow of the eyeglasses above her eyebrow, and possibly soften the shadow on the wall. Also probably made the skin a bit too soft in a couple of places, especially around the hairline and near her eye.

What I did:

1. auto levels
2. a minor tune up on the skin
3. new layer, adjusted levels on her face then erased the background back to the original levels
4. created a blur/glow layer
that's it

Tim,

1. I cropped in closer.
2. I cloned away all stray hair around her head as well as the hair growing out of her chin...lol
3. I used the patch tool to get rid of the stray hairs on her face as well as her glasses shadow.
4. Using the highlight tool, I brough out some of the highlights in her hair.
5. Using hue/saturation, I added just a slight bit of blue so that the image wasn't as warm. I love warm images but, in my opinion, it was just a tad to warm.
6. I cloned her piercing out of her lip. I thought it was slightly distracting.
7. Unsharp Mask

you wanted to know how I worked that pic well.......

first of all I use paint shop pro 8 not photo shop
and I rushed a little you'll notice the missing part of her glasses and her skin tone is still alittle funky

first I removed any blemishes and shadow from the glasses using
clone tool / rubber stamp tool
2..color adjustment to about 6000k
3...levels adjustment
4...curves adjustment ( I only use this to bring out the highlights in the hair )
5..usm
6..removed noise
now I used a skin softening
technique http://www.robertbiggerstaff.com/skin.htm this will show you
one of the methods I use
7..merge all layers
8...did some work on the back ground by creating two duplicate layers ( total of three )
top layer used soft light blend middle layer adjusted glassine blur then had the bottom layer
I used an eraser tool on the middle layer to remove the blur from her face....

I forgot some color adjustments in there somewhere!?!

I know that I explained it quick and there are alot of missing details but it should point you in some interesting directions..... good luck
