I sharpen twice. After I've resized and done and curves adjustment, I run the Canon 20D CSPro Filter from
Fred Miranda's site to do a overall sharpening. I usually go with Level 2, Normal Halo. Then I do any healing, softening etc. Then before doing a Save to the Web, I do another pass with the unsharp mask, but just to the eyes and sometimes the lips using either a quick mask or history brush and snapshot.
