A medium format film scanner is still an expensive proposition. The last time I checked they were still $2,000 or more.
Most people use a flatbed with a transparency adapter for medium and large format film. I have a Microtek and it's not been a bad choice.
Here's a 4x5 transparency that I scanned with the Microtek. Data on the image: Provia 100F sheet film shot with a Graphic View II using a Nikkor 210mm lens.
