Yes, you must be doing something wrong. I have the D70 and CS and have no problem opening the D70's NEF files.
The latest release of Adobe Camera Raw is 2.3, with 2.4 in beta. Get 2.3 from
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=2609
Once you unzip it, move the file 'Camera Raw.8bi' to the Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\File Formats folder.
After doing that, try running CS and opening a .NEF. It should now work. Good luck!
