Anybody else having issues with SanDisk products? I have several 512MB compact flash cards, a SanDisk dual media (smart media and compact flash card) USB port card reader and a new 1 GB compact flash card.

I fought with the Sandisk dual media reader for a week trying to get it to read the SanDisk 512 cards. It would read my Viking and PNY cards very well thank you, but not the SanDisk. Finally, SanDisk admitted the card reader they made would not read their own compact flash cards. Duh?

They offered me a replacement that would only read compact flash cards. I elected to go buy another card reader as occasionally I run out of space on the cf card in the camera and switch to the smart media card. The new reader (a PNY) works with the SanDisk 512MB cards.

So now with Christmas sales, the 1 GB compact flash card was under $70.

Problem is, it won't read in the new card reader. It will read in the new 2.6 GHz machines front panel multicard reader. But forget using the USB port card reader on that or another older and slower machine. It's like the card is not there.

Anybody else having similar SanDisk or other vendor issues, or is it just me?

PS I'll anticipate the "Go buy Lexar" comments by pointing out that Lexar cards ain't under $70 yet... At least not around here.
