Thanks for the complements. The first shot used two modeling lights -- 250w quartz halogen inside 30" softboxes. I placed one about 24" in front of the model, the other 36" away to my right. Shot was taken with a Nikon D100, 50mm f1.8 lense, 1/60 sec.

The second shot used a similar light placement, but I used two Lowell 1,000 watt hot lights. My key light was bounced into a 48" gold and silver umbrella, the second light was covered with a double frost gel. I hook them up to 600 watt dimmers from Home Depot and dial them up or down until I get the look I want. Shot was taken with a Nikon D100, 24 -120mm lens set at 60mm, f5 at 1/60 sec.

As far as I'm concerned "a light source is a light source." As long as I can control the light -- either by dimmers, reflectors, gels, kitchen sheers, umbrellas, bounce cards, car sun shields, whatever ... I'll get a shot.
