i'm using canon's st-e2. it works great when using it with canon speedlights (i have a 550ex and 2-420ex's). but for firing monolights (i have a couple of novatron m-300s and a cheapie jtl), it's somewhat unreliable in terms of where i have to be for it to fire the monolights and my distance from the strobes. it also doesn't like ambient sunlight at all and doesn't take much for it NOT to fire my monolights (not the case, however, when firing canon speedlights--it'll fire them in harsh sunlight) btw, in order to bypass the pre-flash when firing the monolights, i have to "dumb-down" the st-e2 with a piece of tape covering the four rear contacts leaving only the single contact at the front of the hotshoe exposed. so, i was thinking of purchasine a wein cuz i've heard good things about it, but then i'm thinking it's still a line-of-sight xmitter, so why not take the money i'd spend on the wein and put that together with some other bucks and go for the radio xmitter/receiver.
