I don't know much about digital. I only have used it on a limited basis.
Take that back, I meant to say, I only use digital cameras on a limited
basis. I work digital everywhere else.
I don't understand why anyone would go from RAW to Jpeg. Jpeg is a lossy
format and that can give a false impression of where your point of focus
should be. Part of your image information could have been discarded in an
area you didn't want it to be. Image resolution can also affect the depth
of field. I discovered that using virtual cameras in 3-D applications.
But it also applies in reality with digital cameras to.
I go from RAW to PSD. Once everything is where it should be, I then export
to jpg as a final output for web only.
I tend to export TIFF for high end image setters.
JPEG for web
TARGA for video
Various proprietary formats for motion pictures.
