While there's a certain satisfaction to the idea, be aware that there's been some major advances in optical coatings in the past twenty years. Your old lens may have a superior finish and machining, but may be optically poorer - especially where flare is concerned. In a studio, this may not be so important, but I thought I'd mention it.
