I have a full studio in Elmhurst, Illinois and I also have a travel lite set for planned occations but that is rather bulky to keep lugging around with me. I have been stood up by more models than I care to count over this summer and ended up only getting to shoot ONCE and you tell me that this shoot wasn't even planned. That is just not fair LOL
I am glad you found something useful in my advice. I find the 283s with the varipower module to be very reliable (I have ones I bought used 10 years ago that are still going fine). And very transportable. I have been playing with a Sunpak 120J lately that I will probably switch to for location work as the main since it has a barebulb, but 283s will still be used for background and kickers.
