Randy,
I for one use the D100....and honestly have no complaints. Ill answer some points raised as well as add some links that might help you...
1. Battery...I have the optional add-on battery pack for the D100 and so have two of the rechargeable batteries in it. Charged when I first got the camera....have shot probably 500 or so pics and still haven’t recharged and those do include some pics using the onboard flash...
2. B&W capture……have to agree I do miss this….
3. Color this is a personal call….it breaks down to octagon vs. square ccd
4. PC Sync…tough call here I use a microdrive and so simply pop it out and into my computer…Never been one for hooking my camera to my pc so this has never been a problem….
5. The 12 x 6.1 mp…well this breaks down to while interpolating an image may increase color depth….you can’t really make something from nothing….and you can use genuine fractals to interpolate the Nikon images as well…
6. ISO…..personally I don’t like the fact the d100 starts at 200
Check out the links below…and good luck with your decision….
http://www.bythom.com/s2d100.htm Great article and nonbiased…he praises and badmouths both

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/S2/S2P.HTM A great review of the Fuji
But Hey if you have a choice…look for a used D1 …with the firmware upgrade and new software it holds its own against both.
