Go Canon. I don't care for Epson - almost everyone I know with a 2200 fights the thing all the time. And Epson has been caught doing things like putting chips in cartridges that shut them off after a certain number of prints -- whether they're empty or not. And they are notoriously unhelpful if you're using non-Epson inks and papers.
I have been a Canon fan for a while. The printer takes almost any media I push through it. And as someone said above -- the inks are around $10 a cartridge for the "6" series inks and last forever. When I first bought my S800 two years ago I bought 6 of the black cartridges because I was planning to make a bunch of inkjet prints to go in a bin at a show I was in. I still have 2 of those original 6.... And I did all the show prints and plenty more since them.
Best of luck

Something that takes quite a bit of black ink....
