I have a an Espon 785 and a 1280. The use the same engine. I do color proofs with the 785 and B&W archival prints with the 1280. I have been using MIS Associates inks (
http://www.inksupply.com/) with great success. The 1280 is still available on the EPSON refurbished site for $339 with free shipping. The 1280 has a 13 inch printer width. The 785 has an 8 inch printer width, uses the same engine and can often be found on EBAY for $100-200. MIS Associates has a wide variety of aftermarket inks for both printers including several archival B&W sets that are great. Hope this helps.
