I had a brief flash of regret at reading this. I had used a point and shoot Nikon digital (Coolpix 950) for several years and loved the camera, I was totally prepared to be a Nikon loyalist and was about to buy me the Nikon 5700 as a much needed upgrade when the Canon 300D came out. I had always wanted a DSLR but really since I am not a pro could not justify the cost to myself, besides I really didn't have the money to buy a 10D or better then add on lenses.
So at that moment I basically became a Canon guy, and I know that there will be another camera around every corner but I had played that game for the past couple of years wating for that one next thing. What finally drove my purchase and got me past my regret at not waiting for the Nikon is that I decided that taking pictures with a camera is better than researching and waiting for the perfect model.
My 7.75 cents worth.
