Because of the way the prisms and partially-mirrored surfaces are alligned, you may already be seeing partially polarized light in the viewfinder, which could, depending on the circumstanes, lead to seeing very little additional effect from a polarizing filer. I don't know enough about the S2 to be able to speak to it specifically.
