Yes, that is what it was; a revelation. I sat down in my camera room, as if I were having my portrait taken; looked toward the camera (and beyond), and was amazed at that my customers had been looking at.

All that stuff, perhaps junk, well not really, but things that had been able to sneak into the camera room and were just lurking there; not hurting anyone; being lazy and laying around doing nothing……. too much stuff. How did it all get there?

We get used to seeing our surroundings, and don’t realize how many items we hang on walls, or hide under and behind furniture. We do not realize how it looks to our customers, because we see it everyday and become comfortable with it.

I had decided to repaint the camera room anyway, and thought it would be a good time to remove many of those items. Some were props that I hardly ever use, so those were taken to a storage room. The odds and ends that I thought would make good props, but used maybe once were taken to the trash bin.

I really do not make New Year’s resolutions, but this comes close. From now on, I am going to sit down on a chair in my camera room more often, and take a look at what the customer sees. I am certain I will be more careful about what I leave in my camera room.

Happy Uncluttered New Year to all.
