Zak,

Like you I'm an amateur, but unlike you I still haven't shot a girl...yet!
From what I've learned about lighting the key light drives where the shadows appear in an image. As mentioned start out with one light and see where the shadows are and build up from there.

Ben E has point with his post. If you post just one image or two images with the same (or similar problem) it could help folks point you in the right direction. You certainly are posting you questions in the right place for sure! Keep shooting and remember this is supposed to be fun!
