I use layer via copy. Ctrl +J on a PC. Then your preference of blur, but I like Gaussian. With that said, it will always be a lot of extra work if you have to Photoshop the background of every image.
It seems the model is about 1 foot (less than 2 anyway) from the background, therefore the shadow will always be a problem. Is there another area in your condo you can use?

Get creative in your thinking...
I have shot into a room through the doorway of another room. I even stood on a back porch and shot through open sliding glass doors. My lights would barely fit inside.
Just tossing out some ideas so you don't have to spend your time at the darned computer (like we all do.. me included).
By the way, the background in the example I did was a complete re-work of the background... to time consuming, but as I say, I had no option in this case.
