Adorama is also a god place to buy. A lot of low ball places get your basic order, then call you, saying something is out of stock and then the pressure is on to get you to buy other things. I don't have any experience with this company however.

If this is your first "real' camera (not a point and shoot), then i would say just stick with the kit 18 - 70 whatever it is zoom lens. keep in mind that this lens can't hold a candle to the the expensive lenses most people buy. But, you got a lot to learn. And for a general purpose lens, it's going to be ok. You may find that landscape or wildlife photography is more to your liking then shooting people. All of which call for different lenses.

The only option that I would suggest over the kit lens it a 50mm f1.4 or the f1.8 (not the dirt cheap one). A 50mm lens on the XTi is going to be about a 85mm. Which is the standard portrait lenght.
