I will soon upgrade my current camera and lenses. For the last three years I have used a Nikon 8800 which is not a professional quality camera. Nevertheless, a great deal was learned using it and the modest cost allowed me to buy a set of continuous lights (four Smith Victor Q60's), a studio flash system (Calumet PS4 3000 W*s with four flash heads), and other studio equipment. About 98% of my current work is indoors and uses flash lighting. However, more outdoor work is expected in the future.
Would the Canon EOS 5D be a good choice for a camera upgrade? I am concerned that it is about a 3 year old camera model and, given present market conditions, will probably be replaced by a different model soon. Lenses are another issue. I have tentatively selected the EF 70-200mm f2.8L USM. Do I really need the IS model? Would the lower cost f4.0L model work as well? Also, when funds permit, what additional lenses should be considered?
Thanks for all comments.
