If I was looking for L glass and a good walk around lens I would lean toward the Canon 24-105 F4 IS. Its relatively small and light, and with IS gives up to 3 stops of image stabilization. F4 allows good DOF control and is fixed throughout. Here is one brief review you can look at

I use the Sigma 70-200 F2.8 and found it virtually identical to the Canon L lens. They are rated almost identically in reviews. But its not white if that's what you are looking for.
