The Dazzle boxes are OK for consumer/family use. If you are wanting a professional quality conversion, I'd suggest taking a look at the Pinnacle Studio ($200 or thereabouts - includes video editing software) box, at the very least, or having the conversions done by an AV house instead of you doing it yourself.

You once mentioned something like "You're always judged by the worst of your images" on TTB - even a 5 second clip can look bad.

You'd be better off getting a video camera that can do MiniDV and importing the digital video directly into a firewire card (you might need to find one of those - Best Buy has 'em for about $25), and then using Windows Movie Maker to edit the video The video clips that still cameras do might be OK for family/tourist/consumer use, but they're usually smaller sized and have a definite "look" to them that I find not pleasant. I don't allow them to be used for the video projects in my classes.

You can find a half-decent MiniDV video camera for about $350-500.
