Use a larger radius for your paper sweep. Build a cove with a three or five foot radius and then lay your paper over that. The shiny paper reflects light which creates the bright band. So flattening it out will reflect it somewhere else. You might try a softer light and or changing the position of the light until it goes away.

Putting a plex mirror or silver reflector or white reflector behind your subject and catching some of the main light is the easiest way to get the edge light. Or add another strobe head.
