After doing some research I'm hoping to solicit some opinions. Please offer some insightful comments if you have them.

I own a Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 USM, an I'm considering trading the unit in for a Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS (I have the low end covered, and I'm less concerned about losing high-end of the zoom). My question is essentially whether or not the Image Stabilizer is enough of a reason to "trade-up". I have a few big trips coming up and I'm scratching my head on this one.

Thanks for your help.
