Back before I even got studio strobes, I bought one of the first Minolta Autometer IIIF available. It came from Japan because they didn't have a supply in the US yet. Without a doubt, the best money I ever spent in photography. Using a light meter was the only way a person who didn't have a polaroid back could get predictable results. And it saved my butt many times. Yes, I did eventually have an RB 67 ProS (two, in fact...and still have them), but I still rely on a light meter after 23 years in my studio to give me proper settings for my digital camera because I find that the LED screen on the back of the camera isn't all that reliable.
