A look through any magazine that prominently features models--either in fashion ads or as part of the rag's content--shows that preferences in skin tones are all over the map and often are subject-driven or have to do with the "feeling" the images are trying to convey. These preferences aren't limited to warm tones or cool tones, e.g., i see lots of images with muted tones or with sepia-like tones. For glamour, i prefer to produce warmer, golden-hour-like tones as they seem sexier. In your examples, the wamer image, IMO, is too much to the "yellow" side rather than to an amber or slightly orangey hue.
