This is interesting, because 25 or so years ago, most cameras had metalic bodies and you paid a premium to get the black body. At that time, I think it was mostly an option for serious photographers -- no reflection, etc. The Canon A-series cameras were silver with black option & the F1 was black. Nikons were silver with the photomic heads available in black. Funny, isn't it, that things have flip flopped.
I suspect that when you opt for something outside of mainline production you will pay a premium.
