Tomorrow we officially kick off our second ever
Virgin Islands workshop, but today, I gave the arriving class a small demonstration on shooting sunsets with a ring flash--more specifically, the Hensel Ringflash plugged into the Hensel Porty Premium battery power pack and outfitted with the "Sunhaze" attachment. The model, April 2006 Playboy Playmate Holley Dorrough.
This demonstration was designed to help them better understand the mechanics, often taken for granted, in shooting sunsets and working against nature and the elements of time.
The lucky part today, I allowed a few students to get in the water with me and I decided to hand them the remote flash trigger so they could squeeze off a few shots--the other part of the excitement, we happen to have the April 2006 Playboy Playmate, Holley Dorrough, as one of the models! When is the last time a workshop offered the actual Playmate of the same month as the model? In the Virgin Islands? With breathtaking sunsets?
Nonetheless, everyone, including everyone in St. Thomas is excited about Holley and the other four models being here in St. Thomas, especially during their annual Carnival event--ranked as one of the top ten events in the world!
If you couldn't make it to the first one, last November, we still have room for the August one, and we even have one student who needs to sell his slot for the November 06 event (email or pm me if you're interested on that one).
Look for more images in the next few weeks from this great event where only ten lucky photographers get the opportunity. No lines, no pass me the remote (expect today I passed the remote and suprised a few people for fun), just a great location with great models, and great photographers...wishing everyone the best from the VI, back home in time on May 2nd to take Holley to a Spurs playoff game (if there is a game 5) as she heads back with my assistant and I that week for some promo events...wishing everyone the best, rg sends!
