For indoor shoots, I love my new Nikon 70-200 f2.8 -- great shallow DOF and very sharp images I also like using the Nikon 28-70 f2.8 for the same reasons. IMO -- for any studio work you'll be happier with a fixed aperture lens, regardless of the focal length.
For my outdoor work, I really like wide angle lenses ... but still use my 70-200 when shooting models.
