The shot I posted had little or no skin tone adjustments. I shot that RAW and converted using ACR 3.3 with calibration tabs that I have tweaked to get those skin tones. No gaussian blur or other tricks. Remember that Misti is known for her creamy complexion so it may not be a fair comparison.
Like you said, the S3 does so many things so well, it's a shame that the mechanical aspects of focus/raw/card write just aren't up to par with even the consumer Nikon and Canon bodies.
All that said, at $1700 the D200 is a true bargain.
