if you're buying a 10D, tim.
it might just frustrate you to find the 1V is way more camera than the 10D. the best thing to do is to match the two cameras.
get the 1D or 1Ds if you want to get the 1V. for the most part, it's the same camera.
get the elan 7 if you're getting the 10D, because they're closer to each other as far as features and functionality and what not.
even something as simple as the weight of it in your hand will matter.
are you shooting digital or film primarily? you'd be spending too much if you buy the 1V just for a back up.
i have a 1V and an Elan 7E, and even switching back and forth between the two during a shoot breaks my rhythm. because of this, i'm looking to buy another 1V. this is just from my experience of course, and just something to consider. the top of the line model is not always the best choice for each person. bottom line is, these cameras will do what you want it to if you know how to use them, whether it be a 1V, Elan 7E or a Rebel.
