Heck yeah it's small!!! I stuck a 135/2.0 on it (or did I put the D50 on the 135? [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] ) and had a good laugh. It's tough to hold because of the balance that you mention. I shoot on a tripod so I guess I'll be OK until my D200 is in.
Are you using the MB-D200 grip???

I have the grip and love it. Along with a RRS L-Bracket I find it great to handhold even with the 70-200mm VR. The only bad thing about the grip is accidental bumps on the portrait release. The on-off switch helps [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
